What’s missing at next week’s Climate Week NYC? A $10 trillion opportunity.

Faith-based investors and churches, who collectively manage over $10 trillion in assets and are among the world’s largest owners of real estate, have been completely overlooked. No dedicated sessions, no speakers, and no panelists (that I’ve found).

This omission is surprising, given that 80% of the world population identifies with a religion. These organizations and communities, which nearly universally believe that caring for the earth is a sacred responsibility, hold vast influence. Yet, their perspectives have been left out of the conversation.

To drive change, we need to engage a broader spectrum of values. Caring for the earth and its resources isn’t just about policy or technology—it’s about our hearts: what we believe. Faith plays a powerful role in shaping those beliefs, and faith-based communities are crucial to this effort, with the potential to inspire and activate billions of people toward saving our global home.
