Methodologies.

Methodologies

Bountiful Financial develops robust methodologies to ensure rigor, transparency, and accountability of our faith-based investment Frameworks, indices, and data.
We rely on internal expertise and committees and feedback from purpose-built Advisory Councils and public consultations to devise and continually hone our methodologies.

Our methodologies are generally available to the public. Bountiful welcomes feedback on our methods and will consider this input in its regular review of our methodologies. Proposed changes to methodologies are thoroughly vetted with a focus on minimizing the impact on customers and other stakeholders.

Frameworks

Bountiful’s Investment Frameworks are built to reflect the doctrine of a given faith community and the practical ways in which people of faith adhere to those doctrines. The frameworks provide guidelines to align one’s investments with deeply held religious values and beliefs.

Datasets

Bountiful Financial develops three primary datasets that support the implementation of faith-based Frameworks: Product Involvement, Controversies, and Impact. Each dataset has a specific philosophy and methodology.

Product Involvement

Our Product Involvement dataset seeks to quantify a company’s involvement in creating and marketing products and services that contradict the principles of a given faith-based investment framework. (View Documentation)

Controversies

Our Controversies dataset is currently in development. It categorizes potential controversies and defines the severity of the incident. Bountiful Financial’s approach to controversies places a unique emphasis on restitution: A company’s efforts to cure the controversy’s negative impacts.

Impact

Our upcoming Impact dataset identifies and quantifies companies’ positive and negative impacts on society beyond the products and services that a company produces.

Indices

Each Bountiful Index has a specific methodology document that defines its objective and details the rules for creating, rebalancing, and maintaining it. These methodologies provide full transparency to stakeholders and are a prerequisite to launching funds based on the indices.
